Alissa Pavia

Associate Director, Atlantic Council

Alissa Pavia is the Associate Director of the Atlantic Council’s North Africa Program. She is responsible for providing research and analysis on North Africa while also expanding the program’s reach with like-minded centers, foundations, and government agencies. Previously, Pavia worked as a research assistant at NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly in Brussels, focusing on NATO’s activities in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as NATO’s Women, Peace, and Security agenda. Additionally, she held the position of EU Affairs Officer at the Brussels office of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), where she contributed to the organization’s fight against anti-Semitism and violent extremism. Pavia frequently provides analysis for television, radio, and print media, including Al Jazeera, the BBC, and EuroNews. Her written work on North Africa has been published in Foreign Policy, Al Monitor, the Washington Post, and other renowned media outlets. She is fluent in English, Italian, and Hebrew, and possesses a good level of proficiency in French, German, and Arabic. Pavia holds an MA from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and BA from the University of Milan.
