Ilana Brener
Analyst, Department of the Treasury
Ilana Brener is an analyst at the Department of the Treasury. She was a Sanctions Licensing Officer in the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) where she conducted analysis on sanctions authorities, statutes, and regulations related to counterterrorism, North Korea, Burma, China, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Yemen, Somalia, and Global Magnitsky cases. Previously, she was an Export Administrative Specialist at the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) with the Department of Commerce. Prior to her time in DC, Ilana served in Morocco as a Peace Corps volunteer, where she focused on education and health initiatives for the women and youth of her community. Ilana holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and Politics from the University of Glasgow. She earned a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Edinburgh, during which she spent a summer in the West Bank. She is originally from Northern Virginia and is fluent in Arabic.
