Rachel Oswald

PENN KEMBLE DEMOCRACY FORUM FELLOWS

Rachel Oswald is a foreign policy reporter for CQ Roll Call, a position that entails coverage of congressional oversight of the State Department, the foreign aid budget, the Iran nuclear deal, sanctions policy, human rights concerns, the refugee/migrant crisis, and arms control treaties. She previously spent five years covering nuclear weapons and related security issues at National Journal’s Global Security Newswire. Rachel is a past fellow of the International Reporting Project, the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, and the Japan Foreign Press Center. She has reported from Japan, Austria, Russia, Kazakhstan, and the Dominican Republican. Rachel also spent over two years covering local government at a community newspaper outside of Atlanta, Ga. She received her B.A. in Middle Eastern Studies in 2006 from George Washington University. In her free time, Rachel serves as the vice chair of the National Press Club’s Press Freedom Committee and as co-chair of the club’s International Correspondents Committee.
