Tahina L. Montoya

Strategic Advisor, Veteran Experience Office, Department of Veteran Affairs

Tahina L. Montoya currently serves as Strategic Advisor for the Veteran Experience Office at the Department of Veteran Affairs. Prior to this role, Tahina served as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force, Manpower & Reserve Affairs in the Department of the Air Force. Tahina is an Air Force Veteran with over 15 years of experience working various missions at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels in over 9 countries, including deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. She continues to serve as an Officer in the Air Force Reserves where she is a Political/Military Strategist and Gender Advisor assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency. Tahina is also a mentor with Women of Color Advancing Peace, Security and Conflict Transformation (WCAPS), a Doctoral Candidate at Georgetown University, and an adjunct professor at George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. She is a first-generation Colombian American and a native Spanish speaker also proficient in Portuguese.
