Martin Lee and Anson Chan, two veteran political leaders known and respected for their decades of service in Hong Kong’s legislature and government, outlined the growing threats to democracy in Hong Kong and what can be done to defend rights and freedoms in Hong Kong.

The event, which featured experts on China, Russia, and Iran, was organized around the ideas in the January 2014 Journal of Democracy article, “Breaking the News: The Role of State-Run Media,” written by panelists Christopher Walker and Robert Orttung.
