Josh Stern

Foreign Service Officer, U.S. Department of State

Josh Stern, a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, is currently in language training for his upcoming assignment as deputy political-economic chief at the U.S. Consulate General in São Paulo, Brazil.  He most recently served as unit chief for Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia in the State Department’s Office of Andean Affairs.  Josh’s previous positions include Bolivia country desk officer, senior political officer at the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and staff assistant in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs.  He has also served in Colombia, Sierra Leone, and at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York.  Josh is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the Cornell University School of Law.  Prior to entering the Foreign Service, he practiced antitrust law in Washington, D.C.
