Spotlight: Joshua Olufemi, Media Management Executive, Nigeria

Joshua Olufemi is a media management executive with eight years of experience in investigative journalism, open data advocacy, civic innovation, and media development in Nigeria. He is also a National Endowment for Democracy Spring 2019 Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellow. Currently the head of knowledge and innovation at the Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism in Abuja, he has trained over 300 journalists across Nigeria on data-driven journalism and has managed more than eight accountability and governance projects on a range of issues, including election monitoring, public procurement, health, and press freedom.

The Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows Program hosts democracy activists, scholars, and journalists for five-month fellowships, bringing fresh insights and perspectives to Washington, DC. The fellowship offers an important opportunity to explore new ideas in a comparative context, undertake individual research, and share best practices with one another.
